This article covers the messages you can see when generating content with Topic Ideas, the AI Writer, the Post Planner, Content Proposals, Content Ideas and Content Plans in the AI App. Most generation errors are temporary. When a tool can't find a card or menu at all, see Troubleshooting: the AI App dashboard.
Before you generate
The AI content tools use the company and website selected in the AI App, and that company's AI Memory. Weak or missing memory is the most common reason output feels generic. See What AI Memory is and how it is organised.
"Memory unavailable"
What it means: The tool couldn't load the company's memory. Hover over it to see "Could not load this company's memory. Click to retry."
What to do: Click it to retry. If it stays unavailable, reload the page. Don't generate important content until the memory loads, or the output won't use company knowledge.
"Set up memory"
What it means: "No memory for this company yet." The selected company has no AI Memory.
What to do: Click it to open AI Memory and build the memory first. See Approving a website crawl.
"Failed to load ... Please try again."
What it means: A list of options (for example tones or content types) didn't load.
What to do: Reload the page. If the error stays, contact the UP-TO-DATE support team.
Topic Ideas
"Please enter a valid URL"
What it means: The address you entered to take ideas from a page isn't a full URL.
What to do: Paste the full address, including https://.
"Failed to extract content from URL" or "Failed to extract content. Please check the URL and try again."
What it means: The page couldn't be opened. Pages behind a login, a cookie wall or a firewall often cause this.
What to do: Check the link opens in a private browser window. If it doesn't, use a public page, or paste the key points as instructions instead.
"No content could be extracted from this URL"
What it means: The page opened, but there was no readable text on it, for example a page that is mostly images or video.
What to do: Use a page with written content, or describe the topic yourself.
AI Writer
"Failed to generate content" or "Failed to generate content. Please try again."
What it means: The generation didn't finish, usually because the AI service was busy or the connection dropped.
What to do: Wait a moment and try again. If it keeps failing, shorten your instructions or pick a different content type.
"Failed to regenerate content. Please try again."
What it means: Regenerate didn't finish. Your previous result is still there.
What to do: Try Regenerate again after a moment.
"Failed to copy content to clipboard"
What it means: Your browser blocked copying.
What to do: Allow clipboard access for this site in your browser settings, or select the text and copy it by hand.
Post Planner
"AI Server Overloaded"
What it means: "Our AI servers are currently experiencing high traffic and are overloaded." Nothing is wrong with your account or your plan.
What to do: Follow one of the options in the window: try again in a few moments, switch to a different AI model with Change AI Model, or simplify your request.
"Please select at least one content item"
What it means: You clicked Next Step without selecting any generated ideas.
What to do: Select the ideas you want to keep, then continue.
"Please fill in all required settings"
What it means: A required field in the planning step is empty.
What to do: Check the schedule and settings in Content Calendar Planning and fill in every required field.
"Failed to generate proposals for ..."
What it means: Ideas for that campaign type couldn't be generated. Other campaign types may have worked.
What to do: Click Generate Ideas again for that campaign. If it keeps failing, add shorter, clearer instructions.
"Error processing generated content for ..."
What it means: The AI answered, but the result couldn't be turned into a list of ideas.
What to do: Generate again. This is usually a one-off.
"Failed to start content generation", "Failed to create content plan" or "Failed to load data"
What it means: The plan couldn't be saved or writing couldn't start. This is usually temporary.
What to do: Reload the page and try again. Check Content Plans first so you don't create the same plan twice.
Content Proposals, Ideas and Plans
"No Proposals Found"
What it means: "There are no proposals available for the "..." campaign." Nothing has been generated for that campaign type yet.
What to do: Try another campaign type from the list, or generate proposals for this one. See Content Proposals, Ideas and Content Plans.
"Failed to save proposal: ..."
What it means: The proposal couldn't be saved or processed. The text after the colon gives the reason.
What to do: Try again. If the reason mentions a missing website or account, check your selection in the AI App top bar.
"No ideas saved yet"
What it means: "Visit the Proposals page and save topics you're interested in to find them here." Content Ideas only shows ideas you saved.
What to do: Open Content Proposal, and use Save to Ideas on the proposals you like.
"No Content Plans Yet"
What it means: No plan has been saved for this website.
What to do: Create one with the Post Planner. Also check that the right website is selected, because plans belong to a website.
"Content Generation Started" but nothing appears yet
What it means: This isn't an error. "Your content is being generated. You can track the progress in the tasks page." Writing runs in the background and takes a while.
What to do: Click View Tasks to follow progress, and come back later.
Client feedback on emailed proposals
These messages appear on the feedback page your client opens from a proposals email.
"Missing batch ID - feedback cannot be submitted"
What it means: The feedback link is incomplete, often because only part of it was copied.
What to do (client): Open the link straight from the email. If that doesn't work, ask the agency to send the proposals again.
"Content generated for .../... content types. Some campaigns had issues."
What it means: New ideas were generated for some campaign types, but not all.
What to do (client): Keep the ideas that were generated. Try regenerating later for the rest.
"Failed to generate content for any campaigns. Please try again."
What it means: No new ideas could be generated.
What to do (client): Wait a few minutes and try again. Generation may take 2 to 3 minutes, so leave the page open.
