This article covers messages you can see inside AI Memory, whether you open it from the AI Memory card in the AI App or from Memory in Accounts. For crawl and sitemap problems, see Troubleshooting: website connections and crawls. For how AI Memory is organised, see What AI Memory is and how it is organised.
Opening AI Memory
"No memory access"
What it means: "Company memory is only visible to members of this company. You're not an active member, so there's nothing to show here." Your account isn't an active member of the company whose memory you tried to open, and you don't reach it as an owner or admin of its agency either.
What to do:
Check that the right company and website are selected. In the AI App, use the site selector in the top bar.
If it's the right company, ask a company owner or admin to invite you. See Inviting users.
"Session expired"
What it means: "Reload the dashboard to sign in again." Your sign-in expired while AI Memory was loading.
What to do: Reload the page in your browser. If you're asked to sign in, do so and open AI Memory again.
AI Memory keeps showing "Loading..." in the AI App
What it means: AI Memory opens the memory of the company you have selected. If no company is selected, it has nothing to open.
What to do: Pick a website or company in the site selector in the top bar (or with Switch account), then open the AI Memory card again. See Choosing your company and website.
Editing memory
"You have view-only access to this company's memory."
What it means: The full banner reads "A company owner or admin can grant you edit access from the Members tab in accounts." You can read the memory, but the editing tabs are dimmed. Company owners and admins can always edit. Members need edit access turned on for them.
What to do: Ask a company owner or admin to do this in Accounts:
Go to Companies and open the company.
Open the Members tab.
Open the menu next to your name.
Under AI memory, click Can edit memory.
Then reload AI Memory. See Roles and permissions explained.
"You have read-only access to this memory. Ask a company owner or admin for edit permission."
What it means: You tried to save, scan or re-crawl something without edit access. The change was not saved.
What to do: Get edit access as described above, then try again.
"You have read-only access to this company, so these actions are disabled."
What it means: Buttons in this area (for example on Content Examples or maintenance actions) are switched off because you only have view access.
What to do: Get edit access as described above.
"Failed to save changes" or "Failed to load profile"
What it means: A profile or branding change couldn't be saved, or the profile couldn't be loaded. This is usually a temporary connection problem.
What to do: Reload the page and try again. If you had typed a lot, copy your text somewhere safe first. If the error keeps coming back, contact the UP-TO-DATE support team.
Your changes don't show up in AI Chat or the AI Writer
What it means: Each app uses the memory that belongs to the selected website. If a website has its own memory, that memory is used instead of the company's default memory. You may be editing one memory while the app reads another.
What to do:
Check which website is selected in the AI App top bar.
In Accounts, go to Companies > open the company > Memory > Manage memories and check whether that website has its own memory.
Edit the memory the app actually uses, then start a new chat or generation.
See Company memories, site memories and your personal memory.
Sources
"This domain is managed by your Sitemap."
What it means: The full message reads "Add or crawl its pages from the Sitemap tab." The website you tried to add under Sources is already registered on the Sitemap tab, so adding it again would create duplicates.
What to do: Open the Sitemap tab and enable or crawl the pages there. Use Add Webpage under Sources only for pages on other websites. See Adding sources: webpages, documents and data sheets.
A source shows "Failed"
What it means: The crawl or upload of that source didn't finish. The reason appears next to the status.
What to do: Read the reason, fix it if you can (for example a page that no longer exists), then click Re-crawl. If the page is gone for good, delete the source.
"Failed to add source" or "Failed to upload files"
What it means: The source couldn't be added, often because the URL couldn't be reached or the file couldn't be read.
What to do: Check the URL opens in your browser, or try the file again. For documents, a clean PDF or Word file works best.
How we write and Content Examples
"Nothing left to suggest, every rule is answered."
What it means: You clicked Suggest from my site & examples, but every rule in the guide already has an answer.
What to do: Nothing is wrong. Edit a rule by hand if you want to change it.
"That feedback changes none of these rules."
What it means: You pasted feedback from your client, but the AI found nothing in it that changes an existing rule.
What to do: Check you pasted the right text. If the feedback is about something the guide doesn't cover, add it to the relevant rule yourself, or to Extra AI instructions on the AI Prompt tab. See How we write: house rules for the AI.
"Could not suggest" or "Could not create a link"
What it means: Suggestions couldn't be generated, or the Ask the client link couldn't be created. This is usually temporary.
What to do: Wait a moment and try again. If you're in view-only mode, get edit access first.
"Could not read that page" or "Nothing usable on that page, fill it in by hand"
What it means: Fill from link couldn't open the page, or it opened the page but found no content to use. Pages behind a login, cookie wall or heavy scripts often cause this.
What to do: Check the link opens in a private browser window. If it does, fill in the example by hand with Add example. See Content Examples: showing the AI what good looks like.
Company summary and AI Prompt
"Nothing on file yet. Fill in the profile or scan the website first."
What it means: The Company summary has nothing to show for this memory yet.
What to do: Fill in the Memory tab, or crawl and approve the website on the Sitemap tab. See Completing the company profile.
"Could not copy, your browser blocked clipboard access."
What it means: Copy as Markdown was blocked by your browser's clipboard settings.
What to do: Allow clipboard access for this site in your browser settings and try again, or select the text and copy it by hand.
"Nothing yet, fill the Memory profile (or crawl the website) and the prompt appears here."
What it means: The What the AI sees preview on the AI Prompt tab is empty because the memory has no content yet.
What to do: Complete the profile or crawl the website, then come back. See AI Prompt: extra instructions and what the AI sees.
"Could not load the AI prompt. Try refreshing."
What it means: The preview couldn't be loaded.
What to do: Reload the page. If it still fails, contact the UP-TO-DATE support team.
