Most companies have one AI Memory that covers all their websites. Some companies run genuinely different businesses on one account, for example two brands that sell different things to different people. Mixing both into one memory makes the AI answer as a blend of the two, so a website can get a memory of its own. This article explains how company and site memories work, which one the apps use, and how your personal memory fits in.

The memories live in Accounts (accounts.uptodateconnect.com).
Which memory an app uses
Every AI tool (AI Chat, the AI Writer, Topic Ideas and the rest) follows the company and website you have selected:
If the selected website has its own memory, that memory is used.
Otherwise the company's default memory is used.
A website without a memory of its own always falls back to the company memory. A company can mix both: two sites with their own memories and a third on the company memory.
Open Company Memories
In Accounts, go to Companies and open the company.
Open the Memory tab and click Manage memories. You can also click Manage memories on the Memory page in the sidebar while the company is selected.
The button is only shown to people who can manage the company: its owners and admins, and owners and admins of its agency.
The Company Memories page lists each memory with a badge:

Create a memory
On Company Memories, click New Memory.
In Create a memory, enter a Name.
Under What is it for?, choose:
The company (all its sites), or
a specific website. Websites that already have a memory aren't listed, because a website can have only one.
Click Create.
Choose a site only when it really is a separate business. That site then uses the new memory everywhere, including crawls of its pages.
Change, rename or delete a memory
Click Open on a row to open that memory's content in a new tab. The menu on each row offers:
Set as default: makes this the memory apps open for the company.
Use only for (a domain): ties a company memory to one website.
Use for the whole company: turns a site memory back into a company memory.
Rename: changes the display name only.
Delete: unlinks the memory from the company. The confirmation explains that its content is kept.
Splitting a site out of the company memory
Creating a site memory does not move pages that were already crawled into the company memory. They stay there until you remove them. To split a site out cleanly:
Create the site's memory, choosing the website under What is it for?.
Crawl that website. Its pages now land in the new memory.
Open the company memory, go to the Sitemap tab and remove that domain's sitemap with Remove this sitemap.
Important: Step 3 deletes that site's pages from the company memory. Complete steps 1 and 2 first, so the content exists in the new memory.
Your personal memory and AI Profile
Besides company memories, every user has a personal memory. It is private to you, shared with nobody else in the workspace, and available across every company you belong to. The AI uses it to tailor answers to you, for example your role and how you like to work.
In Accounts, go to Memory in the sidebar:
Personal tab:
Personal Memory holds your personal profile: Name, Location, Timezone, Communication Style, Things to always remember, Things to avoid, Preferences, Goals and more. Click Fill this in for me to draft it from a link or a short text about you.
Personal Library lists your own saved memories and notes.
AI Profile tab: set up your personal memory profile step by step.
After you sign up or accept an invitation, you're invited to fill in your AI Profile. You can come back to it here at any time.
Note: Personal memory is always yours to edit, even if you have view-only access to a company's memory. Put company facts in the company memory, not in your personal memory, so your colleagues' AI tools know them too.
